Healing is the act of coming into balance with our suffering.
Life is unequivocally filled with chasms of the most horrific pain and vista’s of the grandest bliss.
These are simple truths...
Healing in the act of living within the geography of our journey from a place of presence, accepting the terrain that has made us who we are and loving it anyway. (or because of)
Struggling against our geography, wasting our time fighting the things we cannot change leaves us feeling stuck and unhappy.
We are the only ones who have the power to bring ourselves into a healthy relationship with who we are. As we consciously assume this responsibility, we can take ownership of where we have been, bringing our awareness to stories of unresolved trauma or wounds in our soul that need tending too. We get to choose what we do with our power and our attention in the moment.
This means we need to allow ourselves to FEEL and LISTEN to the needs of our soul.
Its language is as vast as the landscape we have traversed and comes to us in symbols, mythos, archetypes and dreams. Its context is often not measurable by the mind, which can make it difficult on our healing journey as we try to make sense of what our soul is telling us and how we are to heal. There is not an easy fix or a quick way out. Soul healing requires work, period.
So why bother?
It is this venture of soul healing which leads us to appreciate the grandeur of the highest mountain and simple beauty of the wild flower. For when we are no longer running from the pain in our souls, when we can ‘be with it’ we can simply be who we are, without needing to change, adjust or mitigate ourselves to suit an outside idea of who we should be.
Soul healing is equal to freedom.
In Shamanism we access this landscape and what needs tending too through experiences which take us out of our head and into our hearts/bodies. These could be Shamanic journey, ceremony/ritual, circle, movement, meditation or creative art projects.
